Bringing Art Outside: A Bold, Engaging Experience for The Phipps

The Phipps Center for the Arts is a destination for visual arts, theater, music, and creative expression. But when renovations temporarily closed its facility, The Phipps needed a way to keep the community engaged in the arts. The solution? A free outdoor experience that invited everyone to enjoy art in a new way.

To attract a younger audience beyond its traditional patrons, the event branding took inspiration from a retro MTV aesthetic, designed to resonate with 40-somethings and introduce a new generation to The Phipps experience. The color palette and dynamic motion elements embraced the energy of summer and the venue’s scenic riverside location, making the event feel both vibrant and immersive.

Brand Strategy & Design Elements

For maximum flexibility and impact, Christiansen Creative developed more than just a single event logo. We created a comprehensive design system, including:

  • A library of textures, icons, and color combinations for adaptable event branding.

  • Versatile executions, from one-color prints to full-color digital assets, ensuring consistency across all materials.

  • A visual identity toolkit that The Phipps could use internally to extend and evolve their promotional assets.

With bold, engaging branding, The Phipps successfully transformed a facility closure into an opportunity—keeping the arts alive in the community while welcoming a new audience into its creative world.

At Christiansen Creative we specialize in branding that creates experiences and connects communities. Whether it’s an arts organization, event, or public space, we design strategic, engaging brand identities that bring people together in meaningful ways.
